EyeCare Privacy Policy
EyeCare (“the Extension”) is a Chrome extension that helps reduce digital eye strain with break reminders, guided eye exercises, and an optional blue-light overlay.
1. Summary
EyeCare is designed to work locally on your device. Core features do not require an account and do not upload your browsing history or page content to our servers.
2. Data we store on your device
Using Chrome’s local storage APIs, the Extension may store:
- Settings (reminder interval, snooze, work hours, Strict mode, enabled exercises, overlay preferences)
- Session timing (for example, next break time)
- Local usage stats (screen minutes estimate, breaks taken/skipped, exercises completed)
This information stays in your browser profile unless you clear it or uninstall the Extension.
3. Permissions and why they are used
- storage — save settings and local stats
- alarms — schedule 20-20-20 reminders
- notifications — show break alerts
- tabs — open the dashboard/exercise view and refresh overlay state
- idle — optionally pause reminders and tracking while you are away from the computer
- host access (http/https) — apply the optional blue-light overlay on websites you visit
4. What we do not collect
- No account signup is required for core features
- No sale of personal data
- No advertising trackers in the Extension
- We do not intentionally collect the contents of the web pages you browse
5. Third parties
The Extension itself does not send your settings or stats to third-party analytics services. If you install EyeCare from the Chrome Web Store, Google may process developer/account and store analytics according to Google’s policies.
6. Children’s privacy
EyeCare is a general productivity/wellness tool and is not directed at children under 13.
7. Your choices
- Change or disable reminders, overlay, and exercises in Settings
- Clear local Extension data through Chrome settings, or uninstall EyeCare to remove stored data
8. Changes
We may update this policy when features change. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised when that happens.
